Mini Indoor Fountain
The fun and excitement of making your very own water fountain is just priceless. It is less expensive as well if you might ask.
I recently developed a liking into making indoor and garden water fountains. It brings out the creative side of me. It all started with the idea of having one in our little garden. The gentle sound of water is just soothing, it's relaxing. Of course the idea of just buying one came to mind as a saw beautiful designs a few time from my favorite store aisle, but with the price and with it being battery operated, I decided to check online prices first for water pump along with other needed items, maybe I could make my very own fountain.

I decided to make my own indoor and outdoor water fountain using bamboos. And I got hooked. It became a hobby so I want to make a mini indoor fountain using a glass. I got all the items needed - the glass from a thrift store, the decorative stones from Dollar Tree and the pump I got online for a cheaper price and the straw is just one of those we have around. I tried different straw sizes for that and luckily one of the straw fits perfectly.
I had all the items I need except the two pieces of bamboo: one bigger for the body and one smaller that would be the nozzle. Bamboos are from 99 Cents store in my area. A bundle of bamboo stalks for 99c.
Now I just have to do the sawing for the size I needed. For the body, I had sawed a piece of bamboo stalk for about 2 inches after its node. And for the nozzle, I need a much smaller piece which is about an inch.
Now done with the cutting. Next step is making a hole with the bigger piece, just before the bamboo node. And yes, I'm being careful with my fingers. This is where I'm going to connect the nozzle with the body. And the nozzle has to fit just right on the hole, not even a little loose.
Also, the straw I had been using just fits right in this piece of bamboo. The length of the straw? It's about an inch.
After some minutes of working with the hole and trying the nozzle with it, I was done. The mini fountain is ready for set up.
Submersible Water Pump For Fountain
Setting up the fountain
All items ready and it's time for setting up the tiny indoor fountain inside the wine glass.
I already connected my 1 and 1/2 inch straw with the water pump as this way would be so much easier for me. Once done, all I need is to set the water pump inside the glass. The pump has two suctions at the bottom which will help it stick in place at the bottom of the wine glass. Also I set the water control flow into the middle setting.
Seen here as my next step is my piece of bamboo for the body being put over the straw. You can also see the hole I had made where the nozzle would be connected.
Bamboos and water pump are all set. Also I wanted you to see the top of the bigger bamboo piece, the body which was being sawed after the node.
If you are planning to make an indoor fountain, specially for the first time, remember to cut the bamboo piece after the node or else the water would come out from there and not on the nozzle, unless that's the way you want it to be.
Almost done. I just have to add the decorative stones and this was the last bag from Dollar Store.
And I like these blue stones, not only that its my lucky color but using this blue stones also reminds me of the sky and the bluish sea water.
Water had been added. And I'm just ready to plug it in and see how well it works. Hopefully, I don't have to fix anything.
Plugging it in and seeing my smallest running fountain working well, I added more water, just over the top of the stones.
And for a more louder sound of the water flowing, I added a medium size stone. This small, indoor water fountain will take its own place in my parents room since mom has been requesting one.
This will bring relaxation and the fun I had is immeasurable. The smallest indoor water fountain I made without spending a fortune.
